How to Overcome YouTube Not Available on PC

1. Check the Downdetector
Whether you use YouTube on your Android or iOS device (via Chrome), Downdetector is a surefire way to find out whether YouTube is down or not.

By checking this site, you can save valuable time for yourself. You won't waste time trying out a solution that won't work because YouTube doesn't work for anyone.

Check Your Internet Connection
This is clear. If you are not connected to the Internet, you will not be able to watch YouTube videos. Check your internet connection first. If it doesn't work, check your Wi-Fi / Lan connection or if the router is turned on.

Fix YouTube Doesn't Work in Chrome
If you use Chrome to watch YouTube videos, one of the best ways to determine if the problem is with the browser is to use another browser such as Firefox to access YouTube. If it works, then you can conclude that the problem is with Chrome.

Update Chrome to Latest Version
The first way to fix it is to see if you are using the latest version of Chrome. To check what version of Chrome you are using, click on three vertical dots at the top right of the browser.

Place the cursor in the Help option, and click "About Chrome." The browser will start checking to see if there are available updates. If it's the latest Chrome, it will notify you; if not, it will start downloading updates automatically.

Restart Chrome
You can also try restarting Chrome as usual. If YouTube doesn't work after this, check to see if Chrome is really closed by using the Task Manager. On your keyboard press Ctrl + Alt + DEL, and your screen will change color with the Task Manager option being the last one replaced. Click on the Task Manager, and when the window appears, click on Chrome, followed by "End task."

Disable Hardware Acceleration
Hardware acceleration is designed to help Chrome run more smoothly. This feature gives you sites that you browse with the help of a graphics processing unit and a central processing unit. A problem occurs when the graphics card cannot handle this feature.

1. Access Settings by clicking on three vertical points on the top right of the browser or type chrome: // settings and press Enter.
2. Scroll completely down, and click Advanced. Under the System section, the second option down is Use hardware acceleration when available. Make sure this option is turned off.

This is where you have to restart the browser after you turn off the option. Return to Settings, and under privacy and security, click "Content Settings." Make sure the "Allow JavaScript" option is activated. When finished, restart Chrome.

Clean Chrome cache
Your Chrome browser can be caching an older version of the YouTube page which causes the video to not play.

The following is how to delete cache in Chrome.
1. Open Settings.
2. Scroll completely down and click "Advanced."
3. Scroll further down and click "Content Settings -> Cookies -> See all cookies and site data."
4. Click "Delete all" large in the upper right corner. Click "Delete all" to confirm.
5. Restart your Chrome browser, and access your YouTube video now.

Update YouTube Application
A newer version of the YouTube application can be available to fix problems in older versions. Open Google Play, and tap the Menu icon on the top left. Select "My apps & games," and the first tab will be the update tab. If there are updates available, it will be there.

Clean the data and cache the application
Clearing the application cache will only delete temporary data, and deleting the application data will delete all the settings that you have made. To do this, open "Settings -> Applications -> Application manager -> YouTube -> Storage -> Clear data / Delete Cache."

Not setting the date and time on your device to the correct settings can cause synchronization problems. To fix it, open your device's settings and scroll to Date and time. Make sure the Automatic Date & time option is activated.
